Hic Et Nunc
Vignale Monferrato (AL)

Hic et Nunc,” a verse by one of the most renowned poets of classical literature, Horace, was chosen by the Rosolen family to represent their entrepreneurial project dedicated to the world of wine. A name that, on one hand, symbolizes the strong appeal that Vignale Monferrato had on the owners, who decided to put down roots—Here, and nowhere else—impulsively and almost instantly, Now.
On the other hand, it reflects the company’s philosophy and its wish for clients: to enjoy a glass of wine and the beauty of the landscape, forgetting for a moment the past, life’s challenges, and the uncertainty of the future—savoring, here and now, a taste of Monferrato.
The story of Hic et Nunc is recent, but the history of the land where it was born takes us back to the early 1900s. That’s when the vines found in the Mongetto area—just north of Vignale Monferrato, where today the company’s vineyard heritage is located—date back to. In the 1920s, local viticulture coexisted with woods, meadows, pastures, and cultivated fields. By the 1960s, however, a true viticultural specialization began. The vineyards gradually took over the best, sunniest positions. Yet, the estate’s grapes were not yet vinified in-house, but rather delivered to local cooperative wineries.
2012 marked a new beginning. The Rosolen family purchased 100 hectares of land (20 of vineyard and 80 of arable land) and began a slow process of restoration. First, Ca’ Milano, the farmhouse, was renovated and transformed into the wine resort Ca’ dell’ebbro. Then came the vineyards: restored, reorganized, and replanted where needed.
In 2016, the first vintages of Barbera del Monferrato, Piemonte Cortese, and two Brut sparkling wines made from native grape varieties (Barbera and Grignolino) were released to the market. The goal was to move away from quantity-driven viticulture and focus instead on excellence, vinifying the classic wines of Monferrato in-house.
In 2018, construction began on the new winery, which was completed in 2020. It’s an avant-garde project designed for immersive hospitality among the vineyards. Oenological research on local grape varieties continues, with Hic et Nunc choosing to vinify them as single-varietal wines: Barbera d’Asti, Dolcetto, Nebbiolo from Monferrato, and, above all, Grignolino, which finds its ideal home in Vignale.
